Another thing to point out about every timeline theory, not just this one, is that the Zelda series is constantly contradicting itself, thus making a real timeline impossible. The split occurs when Zelda sends Link back in time in the end of Ocarina of Time, thus creating two Links. Second, I believe in the controversial split-timeline theory. I have used the Internet and videos for reference. First off, I have not played every Zelda game. This is my version of the Legend of Zelda Timeline Theory. Wind Waker happens because Link wasn’t there to prevent it. We played the events on if Link’s bloodline was still in Hyrule. This is the split, here, really.įor me, Twilight Princess’ events happen either way, but depending on how Link reacts after Majora’s Mask (continuing to search for Navi, or realizing that she was a good friend but prefers not to be found and returning home), is how things go down. However, Wind Waker makes almost a direct allusion to the game when they mention that Link left Hyrule and never came back, thus spelling doom when the Events of Twilight Princess occured. To me, the events after Majora’s Mask aren’t quite as clear, so it’s impossible to put it in one or the other. Hero wanders off and never returns, or hero wanders off and returns and keeps the bloodline in Hyrule. In my theory, it makes more sense if Majora’s Mask is the cause of the break in time. Ya know, I find it interesting that people put Majora’s Mask into one side or the other. That also puts Twilight Princess in between Four Swords and Oracle of Ages/Seasons.Īnd a side not, I don’t really believe in the timeline split really. In Four Swords Adventures, the design of Hyrule Castle is exactly the same as the one in the Wind Waker, pointing out that the Four Swords part of the series was in a late period of Hyrule before it was flooded.
Though it isn’t officially clear when Oracle of Ages/Seasons were set, the two games have Twinrova, a boss in OoT for those who didn’t know, so it is more reasonable to put it before Twilight Princess. In an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto in the late 90’s, he stated that Ocarina of Time was set to be the first Zelda, followed by Majora’s Mask (though the game itself wasn’t made until later and he didn’t exactly say that, sources indicate that its a direct sequel to OoT.), the First Zelda, Zelda II, A Link to the Past, and Link’s Awakening Seriously, I said this like 3 times, but I’ll just copy/paste it from the other board.Īnd these facts prove this timeline is correct:
